Workflow: The Digital Nomad's Guide to Budget Vision
Budget Vision was built with the digital nomad lifestyle in mind. Here's how to use it to manage the unique financial complexities of a life on the road.
1. Master Multi-Currency
This is your core feature.
- One Account Per Currency: For each country you hold money in, create a separate account. For example:
Wise UK (GBP),Wise US (USD),Kommerzbank (EUR), andCash (THB). - Set a Primary Currency: In Settings, choose a primary currency (e.g., EUR). Your dashboard's "Total Balance" will now show your entire net worth converted to that currency, giving you a single, clear number to track.
- Log Expenses Locally: When you spend 500 THB on street food from your Thai Baht cash pile, log it as
500 THBfrom yourCash (THB)account. Budget Vision handles the conversion in the total balance automatically.
2. Plan for Big Travel Expenses
Use the calendar and Inbox to plan for flights, visa runs, and accommodation.
- Wishlist in the Inbox: Find a flight you want to take in 3 months? Create a transaction for it (
Flight to Vietnam, -$500) and send it to the Inbox (by not setting a date). - Find the Best Time: When you're ready to plan, open the Inbox and drag the flight transaction onto different days on the calendar. Watch how your Lowest Balance changes. This instantly shows you the best, safest time to book your travel without putting your finances at risk.
3. Track Cost of Living
Use categories to understand your spending in different locations.
- When you're in Thailand, you might have categories like
Rent (Chiang Mai)andVisa Run. - When you move to Portugal, you can add
Rent (Lisbon).
At the end of your stay, you can use the filters to see exactly how much you spent in total on "Rent" or "Food" in that location, helping you compare the cost of living and plan for future trips.
